U.S. retailer Target sold Star Wars action figures exclusive 2-packs on October 1st, 2009. The 2-packs were themed based on the arena conflict seen in Attack Of The Clones. The series started with six 2-packs, including a total of 12 figures in 2009.
In 2010, Target continued the series with another six 2-packs (another 12 figures). Both series' contained re-releases and new Star Wars figures, and by the end of 2010 the entire series consisted of a total of 24 figures.
Each 2-pack came with a hero and a villain, except for the C-3PO and R2-D2 set. Although, it could be argued that 3PO counts as a villain since he wore a Battle Droid head.
The packaging was designed so that it created a half circle Geonosian Arena when put together with the other sets.
Both, the 2009 and 2010 sets were very slow sellers in the United States. The 2010 sets could even be found at some Target stores during the holidays of 2011.
